Writer Dorinda Cass enjoys learning new things, by researching or sometimes by simple serendipity when fascinating facts pop up when she’s least expecting them. These are jewels to a writer looking for ideas for a story or to add colour to a piece of writing.

She is interested in history, genealogy, languages, books and, of course, writing.

Dorinda has lived in Singapore and Hong Kong and continues to be drawn back to the Far East in her writing. Two of her novels in progress are set there: one in Malaya and Singapore and the other in Hong Kong and Macau. For her current novel she has moved close to home and chosen a North Yorkshire setting for her time-slip romance which slips back and forth to the late 18th century from the present day.

Some of her short stories have recently been accepted and published in People’s Friend Magazine and The Weekly News.
Other stories have  been published in anthologies: Illumination, Making Waves and The Plotting Shed.

In 2018 Dorinda won the annual Ryedale Family History Society short story competition with her story, Fire Storm, about the Baedeker air raid on York in 1942.
